VOTE NOW FOR Isaiah Morelos — WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY FOR ONE OF OUR OWN ACTG STUDENTS AT THE OSU BEAVERSTORE, APRIL 17TH & 18TH

Hi Everyone!

I (Isaiah Morelos  morelosi@oregonstate.edu) want to announce that I am running for the Student Board of Directors position for the Beaver Store. In previous years this position has gone to students outside of the college of business so I would like to change that up and bring my growing skill set to the table.

The only way this is possible is if enough OSU students, faculty, and staff vote for me.  Elections will be held on April 17th and 18th from 9am-6pm inside the OSU Beaver Store, each voter will need to bring their OSU ID and can vote for up to two candidates.

A little about me. My name is Isaiah Morelos and I am an Accounting and Business Information Systems dual major. Academically I strive for excellence and do my best to learn as much from my classes as possible. Outside of class, I am very active in both Beta Alpha Psi and the Business Information Systems club and I have been elected as an officer in both starting next fall term! My favorite things to do outside of the classroom are read Sci-fi/Historical novels and explore Oregon’s natural wonders through hiking, kayaking, and boating.

I would make a great Student Director because I have had formal training and experience in effective team dynamics and I believe my understanding of business operations and technology would be valuable in the discussion of how we serve the Beaver Stores shareholders (OSU’s students, staff, and faculty).

I believe this position will help me grow personally and professionally and will help me become another one of COB’s successful Alumnus. My perspective is a rising tide lifts all boats.

GO COB BEAVS!
Isaiah Morelos  morelosi@oregonstate.edu

ACTG 417 Advanced Accounting will not be offered Fall 2019.

If you were planning to take ACTG 417 fall 2019 and you are graduating in fall, you may substitute ACTG 428 Advanced Audit Analytics (offered Spring 2019) for ACTG 417.  If you are graduating after fall 2019, ACTG 417 is scheduled to be offered winter 2020.

Please check your MyDegrees to see if ACTG 417 is a required class for you rather than an elective choice, and ask an advisor if you have questions about this.

FROM THE ADVISORS TO ALL ACCOUNTING MAJORS

Attention Accounting majors who will be taking all electives in their last term to earn their 225 credits to qualify to take the CPA exam.  Effective Spring term, OSU will no longer require students to apply to graduate, but will instead be automatically graduating students when they meet all their graduation requirements (classes, grades, credits, etc.) for their declared program(s) of study.  If you were planning to just tack on the additional elective credits you needed to bring you to 225 credits at the very end of your studies (i.e. all electives in your last term without any required classes/credits), you should make an appointment with an advisor to strategize this.  Failure to do this in the proper way, may result in you graduating OSU before you completed the credits you wanted for CPA.

“Embezzlement is the crime that every business owner, government agency, PTA, and youth sports league worries about. Protecting assets is a top priority. The loss of money is devastating. However, what is worse is the loss of time which is unrecoverable and the loss of trust which takes the biggest toll. When embezzlement happens it is often committed by a long-term, trusted employee. They have worked side by side with you for potentially years or even decades. Often, they are part of the family. These embezzlers live amongst us. This crime is the relatable crime because most everyone knows some business or person who has been affected by embezzlement.”  Please read for more details
